This course will provide an overview of Age-Related Macular Degeneration including epidemiology, pathophysiology, and risk factors. A detailed analysis of the various stages of AMD will be introduced and illustrated via case examples. Emphasis will be placed on early detection and use of multimodal imaging in patient care.



Objectives:
  • 1. The participant will understand how to incorporate the use of multimodal imaging into the work-up and management of a patient with Age Related Macular Degeneration
  • 2. The participant will understand the pathophysiology of Age Related Macular Degeneration and be able to accurately differentiate between the dry and wet forms.
  • 3. The participant will be knowledgable about the modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors of Age Related Macular Degeneration.

This course will provide a review of Geographic Atrophy including pathophysiology, symptomatology, and risk factors. The use of case examples highlighting multimodal imaging in the diagnosis and early detection of disease will be emphasized. New treatment modalities will be introduced.
