Avani Dave OD
Director of Optometry and Contact Lens Service, Ross Eye Institute
Dr. Avani Dave was awarded the Presidential Scholarship to attend the New England College of Optometry where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry. After graduating, Dr. Dave completed a Cornea and Contact Lens residency having trained at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Boston Foundation for Sight, Boston Medical Center and Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston.
Post residency, Dr. Dave ventured back home to join a Specialty Contact Lens practice in Toronto, Canada. During this time, she was recruited by the University at Buffalo's Department of Ophthalmology to create a Contact Lens program. Today, Dr. Dave is the Director of the Optometry and Contact Lens Service at the Ross Eye Institute. As a Clinical Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology, Dr. Dave is involved with lecturing residents, supervising medical students and acts as a clinical investigator for several research studies.
Dr. Dave is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She is also a recipient of the Johnson and Johnson Vision Care Award of Excellence in Contact Lens Patient Care. Dr. Dave has lectured at several local and national Optometric meetings across the country.
Born and raised in Toronto, Dr. Dave is fluent in Gujarati and Hindi. She thoroughly enjoys travelling, skiing, golf and is a former Professional Indian Classical Dancer.
